List of Mass Murder and Attempted Mass Murder incidents in the U.S in 2026 (W.I.P)

This is a list of all acts of mass murder and attempts in the United States in 2026. This is something I've been thinking about since late last year but never got to doing since going back and looking for every case would be a nightmare. I'll try to update this list and keep up with it whenever a new incident occurs as some go unnoticed. I'm defining these incidents as when a perpetrator attempts to attack multiple people, and either succeeded or was shot/stopped in some way before inflicting mass casualties. This will include familicides/domestic killings and spree killings. I'm counting attempts as when a perpetrator actively attempted to attack/kill several people, (e.g. fired at least one shot and isn't just suicide by cop) so no plots will be included. Gang shootings will also not be included for obvious reasons. Hope this made sense idk how to explain shit in text. I'll also be writing these as if it were a Wikipedia article for the incident. I'd include sources, but that's too hard so just trust me I guess. This will probably be scuffed as hell.

Shootings:

At approximately 7:20 am, District II – Bowie Station patrol officers responded to Watkins Park Plaza for the report of an unresponsive man. Officers located Joseph Holt III in his car suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. Homicide Unit detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

At approximately 8:10 pm, District II – Bowie Station patrol officers were notified of multiple shootings in the area of Darlenen Street and also Cambleton Drive. A man had been shot while inside of his vehicle. Separately, a woman was shot while in her vehicle. Officers also learned a third person in the area had been shot at while in their car, but was not struck. The responding patrol officers immediately canvassed the area looking for the suspect. Within minutes, the officers located Williams on Darlenen Street and took him into custody. The officers also recovered a weapon at one of the shooting scenes. The PGPD’s Firearms Examination Unit examined the weapon and concluded it was also the firearm used to murder Holt earlier Sunday morning.

Williams is in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Inspiration from Columbine (speculative)

Shooting:

At around 2:19 P.M (CDT), Hawkins entered the school armed with two semi-automatic pistols stolen from his father's room. Hawkins, with one of the guns in his hand and the other presumably on his person, attempted to fire at a student sitting in the foyer, but the gun malfunctioned and didn't fire. He went behind a vending machine to clear the jam, and then stepped out from behind the vending machine pointing his gun at another student. He fired a shot, and the student then put his hands up and begged him not to shoot him. Hawkins then told both students in the foyer to leave, and they both exited through a nearby entrance. Principal Kirk Moore, hearing the gunshot, then ran out of his office and tackled Hawkins, getting shot in the process. As they wrestled on a bench in the foyer, Hawkins discharged his gun several more times. An assistant principal then secured the firearm and helped Moore hold Hawkins down until police arrived to take him into custody.

When interviewed, Hawkins stated he had come to the school to kill students, faculty, and himself. Hawkins also stated that he wanted to commit his own shooting like the Columbine shooters did.
